McDonald Construction is proud to be involved in the new exciting green building certification pilot program Minnesota Greenstar!

The Builders Association of the Twin Cities partnered with the environmental non-profit Green Institute introduced a pilot program for a select group of Minnesota home builders interested in transforming the residential building industry through creating a "green" certified standard of building practice. Each home registered with the program must meet the Greenstar requirements through 3rd party verification during design and throughout the construction process. McDonald Construction is honored to have been selected for this program.

Tell us more about your MN GreenStar Model.

The cottage-inspired model home, designed by St. Amant Design, is located in the Dancing Waters Community in Woodbury. We used many green processes and products to build this model. To begin with, we reviewed soil impact on native trees and plants specific to the site then planned for low impact. The home features a very open design filled with natural light and air with a continuous ventilation system. The gourmet kitchen features granite countertops equipped with Energy Star Bosch appliances to help make healthy meals in a truly green space.

Mark David's interior design complements this eco-friendly home. Eucalyptus flooring flows throughout the home with custom knotty alder cabinetry and custom recycled glass tiles from Lyn Hunter are a few of the fantastic environmentally friendly features in this lovely home. The 92% energy efficient furnace will help save on monthly bills and precious resources at the same time.
